Lunchtime and After School Activities

Two of the aims in our mission statement are that we try to:-

  • Develop everybody’s unique personality, abilities and talents through creative learning experiences
  • Encourage confidence, independence and self-belief so that all individuals can reach their maximum potential

In order to do this we celebrate all our children’s achievements by offering a wide variety of extra curricular activities. Each term we offer a new programme of activities. These have included sports clubs – football, gymnastics, dodgeball, judo and tennis. Our Music teacher runs a choir/musical theatre club. Other types of clubs are designed to offer children the opportunity to learn new skills such as French. The Year 6 pupils are encouraged to set up and run clubs with adult supervision. Please see more details about the Year 6 story club below.

Story Club

We all love reading here at Compton and due to its success last year, story club is up and running again this year!

Story Club is led by Year 6, who sign up in pairs to lead the sessions. Offered to children from Year R to Year 2, this lunchtime club is always extremely popular! The Year 6 children bring books of their choice along to read to the younger children in the library. The children being read to are so engaged that you can hear a pin drop!

It is lovely to see the Year 6 children asking questions as they go along, and the other children are all always so keen to answer.
