Able, Gifted and Talented
At Compton CE Primary School we are committed to recognising, developing and supporting the individual strengths of all pupils. We are dedicated to ensuring that the needs of gifted and talented learners are met throughout the school.
Each able, gifted and talented child has an individual set of needs and expectations which are met with the school working in partnership with pupils and parents.
We do this by ensuring:-
- High quality teaching and learning
- High quality enrichment
- High quality provision
The school monitors identified children and looks for gifts and talents in all our learners including:
- Physical talents in sport
- Ability rather than just achievement, so that underachievers are amongst those identified
- Leadership and social awareness
- High intelligence – eg exceptional mathematical or linguistic ability
At Compton CE Primary School we have several ways to identify pupils including:
- Teacher nominations and checklist
- Testing – attainment, ability and potential
- Assessment of students work
- Information from parents
