Our Christian Vision
"The child grew and became strong in spirit; filled with wisdom" Luke 2:40
Our biblical verse refers to Jesus’ childhood up to the age of 12; a time when children are naturally inquisitive and eager to learn.
By providing opportunity for our children to develop resilience, excellent interpersonal skills, good manners, time for reflection and high moral standards, we hope that our children will develop good character thus becoming “strong in spirit.”
Wisdom is more than knowledge; it is the ability to apply knowledge with the ability to differentiate right from wrong.

Who are we?
Our inclusive village school welcomes pupils of all faiths or none. Everyone at Compton Church of England Primary School is part of many family groups and our own families come in all different shapes and sizes.
Within school we belong to our friendship group, our class family: all named after local trees, our house colour teams: blue panthers, red tigers, yellow lions and green leopards, our whole school and wider federation family.
We also belong to our local and parish communities, our national identity and our global community.
We all have responsibility to care for all members of our world community.
Why are we here?
As a Church of England Primary School, we have been at the heart of Compton village since 1855 when we were established under trusts to provide education for the ‘poor of the parish.’ 165 years later, we continue to take our significant role at the heart of our village community very seriously.
It is our aim to prepare our children for their futures by enabling them to make wise decisions so that they and others can live a full life with dignity.
So how then do we live?
At Compton Church of England Primary School, we are inclusive and tolerant. All members of our school family have an equally important role to play in supporting our children to achieve our vision for them.
“to grow and become strong in spirit and filled with wisdom.”
We live with the hope that by fostering and nurturing kindness and respect, we will grow to live full lives where we celebrate uniqueness and diversity and have a positive effect on others, whoever they are and wherever they live
Within our school community the acceptance, understanding and engagement of the fundamental British values form an integral part of our Christian values. These are:
- Democracy,
- The rule of law,
- Individual liberty,
- Mutual respect
- Welcome of those with different faiths and beliefs
