Autumn 2020 Virtual Events at school

To support all Berkshire schools keep their pupils active under Covid 19 regulations the West Berkshire Sports Partnership will be continuing to deliver our Berkshire Virtual School Games events over the Autumn Term for KS1 and KS2

Year 3 came 3rd in the Tambourelli West Berkshire Challenge which was set before half term. The next challenges are as follows:

KS1 - Out of Space

KS2 - Gaelic Football

We did really well in the Summer Term with these types of events and even got County Gold so hopefully we can try our best again to do the same

Inter-School Competitions 2020-21

Due to current guidelines and restrictions, holding or attending any competitions is not possible. However, there are discussions in place for when this would be possible so please look out for more information from Mr Harte. Football will most likely be the first sport back but there will be Athletics, Netball and hopefully X-Country which had a lot of interest Years 3-6 last year.

After School Clubs 2020-21

This has not been possible due to the current restrictions and guidelines but hopefully Street Dance, Fencing, Judo and Yoga will be back when appropriate  and safe to do so. Again, children will be notified of when these will be commencing.

One thing we do have to look forward to is the range of coaches who will be visiting the school this acdemic year starting after half term. Each class will get a chance to experience some of these. Included are: Street Dance with Rebecca Biruls (the dance teacher), Gymnastics with Chris Chapman, Basketball with Reading Rockets, Football with Reading FC Academy and Outdoor Adventurous Activities with the West Berkshire Sports Partnership's James Mandry.

PE and Sports Action Plan

The action plan covers the Intent, Implementation and Impact of what Compton Primary is aiming to achieve by the end of the academic year 2020-21. Our main INTENT is for ALL children to.

Participate and understand their learning in all six areas of Real PE (cogs)

Enjoy their PE and sport experiences

It will be IMPLEMENTED via different ways including: Teachers including support staff being trained how to access and deliver Real PE, Real Gym and Rea Dance;delivering a 2-year cycle to cover a wide range of sports, taking part in School, County and Countrywide competitons; and encouraged to use the break and lunchtimes to remain physically active throughout the school day.

Each term, the IMPACT will be analysed and this will change the Intent should the need arise.
